TAMU Graduate Status Options
1. Graduate Student (G7)
This admission category is available for students who have completed an undergraduate
degree and who wish to pursue full admission to a graduate program.
2. Post-Baccalaureate, Non-Degree
Seeking Student (G6)
This admission category is available for students who have completed an undergraduate
degree and who wish to take graduate courses without immediately applying for
full admission to a graduate program. Acceptance of G6 courses towards a masters
degree is at the discretion of the department to which full graduate admission
is made. A maximum of 12 credit hours taken in post-baccalaureate non-degree
status (G6) may be applied toward the master's degree. However, successful
completion of 12 hours does not establish eligibility for admission to full
degree-seeking status.
G6 applications are handled on a first come, first served basis. Applications submitted less than one month before registration may not be processed in time to register for that semester. A student enrolled as a post baccalaureate, non-degree seeking student must maintain a 3.000 GPR on all course work attempted to remain eligible to register for subsequent semesters. G6 students are not eligible for assistantships, fellowships or scholarships funded by TAMU.
